Job Advert: Head Coach, Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme (BOSSS)

The Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme (BOSSS) is inviting applications for an experienced and driven Head Coach to lead its developing competitive swimming programme in Stockton-on-Tees.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated coach to play a central role in shaping a progressive, athlete-focused pathway, supporting approximately 60–70 swimmers across the Borough.

About the Role

The Head Coach will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, performance-led programme, including the planning and delivery of 10 pool sessions per week. The role will involve working closely with local partner clubs: Stockton ASC, Thornaby ASC, and Billingham Forum Lifesaving Club, to ensure a clear and effective development pathway for swimmers progressing into competitive performance environments.

The successful candidate will lead on programme design, athlete development, and coaching standards, while fostering a positive and inclusive culture that supports long-term swimmer success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and oversee a structured weekly training programme
  • Design and implement long-term athlete development plans
  • Monitor swimmer progress and provide regular performance feedback
  • Support transitions from local clubs into the BOSSS pathway
  • Build strong partnerships with aligned clubs and stakeholders
  • Lead, mentor, and develop assistant coaches
  • Work collaboratively with Strength & Conditioning personnel
  • Engage with the BOSSS Committee on programme development and governance

About You

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Senior Coach / Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience coaching competitive swimmers at National level
  • Strong understanding of athlete development pathways
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • A passion for developing swimmers and building a high-performance culture

  • Location: Stockton-on-Tees (Splash, Thornaby Pool, Billingham Forum)
  • Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience
  • Commitment: 10 sessions per week, plus competitions and weekends
  • Closing Date: Sunday 5th April 2026
