Government guidance means our pools are currently closed, but this does not mean coach training and qualifications have stopped. Swim England have specifically adapted a number of their coach education courses, across a number of disciplines, to make sure everyone has the opportunity to start the relevant training course.
The courses will be blended learning, allowing learners to complete the theoretical elements of their certificate online through interactive activities as well as the option to attend webinars to share experiences of the training with a tutor and others who have begun their online training.
The Institute of Swimming, in partnership with the region, will then arrange practical face to face training days once the leisure centres and clubs have reopened at suitably located venues. Within the North East, we are hoping to run practical training days in the following locations:
- Freemans Quay – Durham
- Louisa Centre – Stanley
- Yorkshire – TBC
