Swim England North East is delighted to see the appointment of Richard Palmer-Jones to Swim England’s Sport Operations Committee (SOC). With extensive experience both within and beyond aquatics, Richard brings invaluable insight and passion to his new role.
Currently serving on the board of directors for Swim England North East Region, Richard’s dedication to the sport is evident. Over the next four years, he will take on the responsibility of guiding the SOC, succeeding Ian Mackenzie. The SOC, a pivotal body reporting directly to the Swim England Board, holds a broad mandate encompassing the effective delivery and development of aquatic sports.
Richard’s enthusiasm for positively impacting the pathway of aquatic sports shines through. His extensive background extends beyond the poolside, as he owns PJH Brand Management, specialising in sports apparel across Europe. With experience at Adidas and currently heading the golf division in Europe for Under Armour, Richard’s expertise adds a unique dimension to his role.
His journey into aquatics was sparked by his daughter’s love for swimming. Richard’s commitment to the sport deepened as he served as Chair at Harrogate District and later Richmond Dales Swimming Club, navigating the challenges of the pandemic with resilience and leadership.
Encouraged by Richmond Dales’ coach Keith Hall, Richard joined the board for the North East Region, where his strategic acumen has been instrumental in shaping and supporting the region’s latest initiatives.
