Swim England North East is proud to support the Child Protection in Sport Unit’s (CPSU) Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport Week 2024, in collaboration with RiseNE. This nationwide campaign aims to raise awareness and empower parents, carers, and sports clubs to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people in sport. As part of the week’s activities, there are FREE virtual workshops tailored to help you safeguard young athletes.
Workshop: Gambling and Gaming Harm for Parents/Carers and Sports Club Volunteers with YGAM

This session, delivered by YGAM (Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust), focuses on a growing concern for children and young people – the potential harm caused by gaming and gambling. YGAM is a nationally recognised charity dedicated to educating and safeguarding children from these risks.
This workshop will help you:
- Understand the various influences that lead children and young people toward gambling.
- Explore the blurred lines between gaming and gambling.
- Identify the potential harms associated with in-game microtransactions.
- Recognise the signs of gambling harm and know where to seek support.
