NER PARA CAMP 2

The second of the North East Regional Para-swimming camps 2023-2024 took place on Sunday 10th December at Catterick Leisure Centre. 17 swimmers from around the North East Region took part in the event.

The day started with a workshop “Introduction to Breath Work” delivered by Masters swimmer Steffy Cappleman from Richmond Dales ASC. This interactive session focused on the following:

-Our breath.. what is breath work

-Correcting our breathing habits

-Breathing exercises to optimise physical performance

-Breathing exercises to impact our mental states

The swimmers learnt about why athletes train their breathing and were able to practice breathing techniques to help boost their performance in competition. Steffy then joined the athletes in the land training session and gave some more practical advice on breathing during land sessions. After warming up with a 45 minute circuit session the swimmers headed to the pool for 2 hours of training.
