Swim England NE Regional Para-Swimming Camp 27th March 2022

It was a early start with the clocks moving forward for the 20 swimmers attending the training camp this week at Catterick. However, this didn’t stop our swimmers enthusiasm and the morning started with a brainstorming session focussing on pre-pool exercises. Swimmers focussed on R-MAP (Raise, Activate, Mobilise and Prime) looking at each area in turn and how this can be utilised to prepare for swimming. They then put their learning into action before heading to the pool.

Coaches Keith Hall, Jo Barber, Zoe Cowan, Sue Thorpe, Ben Gilchrist and Jo Thompson put the swimmers through their paces in the pool over a 2 hour session. The session focussed on skills that swimmers had identified as weaknesses at the previous para-swimming regional camp. Small groups of swimmers worked on specific skills in rotation allowing coaches to give individuals one to one attention if needed.

Para-swimming Talent Officer Jack Chambers attended the event and said “the session was very engaging and enjoyable for all coaches and swimmers. The coaches did an exceptional job developing key skills for the swimmers to work towards fulfilling their potential.”
