Yorkshire County Swimming Development Camp 2026

36 selected swimmers form across the county attended a face to face camp at York Sports Village on Sunday 18th January 2026.

The camp forms part of the County Swimming Development Programme for 2025/26 which includes a variety of different opportunities to help support the development of swimmers and coaches.

Swimmers have the opportunity to be part in two face to face camps which focus on:

  • Enjoying the swimmer journey
  • Encourage the development of the person, the athlete and the person.
  • Being positive, being open minded and adaptable

They also have the opportunity to attend various workshops which focus on Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Positive Mental Health and Lifestyle.

The swimmers who attended the camp gave the following feedback:

  • “I loved doing a variety of skills and drills. I liked the T Rex drill which worked on my catch and acceleration phase.”
  • “I enjoyed focusing on technique and not having to swim fast.”
  • “The drills with the pull buoys helped me to develop a faster turn.”
  • “I got loads of tips and help from the coaches such as how to use my hips on my rotation, reach further on freestyle.”
  • “The session was FUN! I enjoyed all of it.”
  • “I learnt that I can do the best car sounds with the snorkel!”

Head Coach, Tim Redfearn commented, “ Great to see all the swimmers enjoy their first experience of a pathway camp. They working hard to develop both their skills and techniques in and out of the water and grew in confidence to discuss learning with their group and share these with everyone. A fantastic camp and llok forward to seeing the swimmers progress before the next camp in June.
