In an exciting display of youthful enthusiasm and athleticism, more than 50 youngsters aged ten and under gathered from across the North East to compete in a water polo event at Maltby Leisure Centre. Organised by the Rotherham Metro Water Polo Club, the event brought together participants representing six different countries, highlighting the growing popularity of this dynamic sport in the region.

Maltby Leisure Centre has recently been designated as the base for the new Swim England Talent Centre. Under the leadership of the newly appointed head coach, Matt Birch, the centre is poised to become a hub of water polo excellence. Coach Birch is now overseeing a dedicated team of eight coaches and more than 60 young athletes from all over the North East and the Midlands.

Rotherham Metro Water Polo Club has expanded its programs to include squads for various age groups. The Mini Metros cater to children aged six to ten, while junior squads and a new academy squad provide opportunities for older and more advanced players to hone their skills and compete at higher levels.
