Sarah Small, Regional Development Manager, is taking part in the Great North Run for North Yorkshire Sport on September 10th 2023, and as a Region, we will keep you updated on Sarah’s journey throughout.
Sarah’s choice to raise funds for North Yorkshire Sport stems from her understanding of the positive impact of exercise on mental health. While she has been fortunate not to face significant mental health challenges herself, she has witnessed the transformative power of sports and physical activity in supporting her close friends through difficult times. Sarah aims to contribute to the cause by fundraising for North Yorkshire Sport, enabling them to provide mental health awareness training to sports clubs and providers. Additionally, the funds will assist in supporting individuals in the county to become physically active as a means of managing their mental health.
Here is an update on how Sarah’s been doing the last couple of weeks:
My running shoes have been feeling a bit left out over the past couple of weeks. Due to illness and other commitments, they have only made it out the door for two runs and have spent most of their time underneath the radiator in the hall observing the coming and going of pram wheels, bags, toys, small feet and other passing objects. I have however managed to fit a couple of swims and exercise classes in (which they don’t know about) and I’m hoping to have some longer runs over the coming weeks in preparation for September, which should keep them happy.
